New Chairman of the Audit Board
Hadi Purnomo has been elected the Chairman of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia for 2009–2014. He was sworn in on October 19, 2009, by the Chairman of the Indonesian Supreme Court in the presidential palace, and the ceremony was witnessed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Also sworn in at the same time were six other new board members: Hasan Bisri, H. Rizal Djalil, Moermahadi Soerja Djanegara, Taufiequrahman Ruki, T. Muhammad Nurlif, and Ali Masykur Musa. The other two members, Herman Widyananda (Vice Chairman) and Sapto Amal Damandari, were elected in 2007 and will serve until 2012.

For the first time in history, the Chairman and the Vice Chairman were elected by and among the board members themselves, as mandated by legislation concerning the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia.
